Recruiting Guide (Dynasty Mode):
Written by Brockleigh35

A basic how-to for the recruiting portion of the Dynasty Mode.

Recruiting is mainly just getting recruits interested in your school. They
each have a starting interest, and if their starting interest is less than
halfway on the meter, cut your losses and move on. Some kids won’t even
take your call (if a 5-star has his eyes on a top 5 ranked school, he’s not
going to care about you and your Utah State program), so be prepared for a
lot of rejection if you want to build something up from rubble.

Under My School, check your Recruiting Priorities. That will tell you not
only what Seniors you have to replace, but which of your units are strong
and which ones need shoring up.

The recruits’ interest level in each category is, from Lowest To Highest:
Extremely Low, Low, Good, Very Good, Excellent and Elite. You want to line
your program’s ability in that category with the interest of the recruit.
Even if it’s Extremely Low. “Playoff Potential? Who cares about that, right
kid? How is two extra games going to make or break your college career?”

You’ll have the best luck with in-state kids. Those, you automatically match
up Elite-Elite.

When pitching, you want to avoid losing the kid’s interest and annoying him.
Early on, limit your pitches to either two soft sells or one hard sell. A
soft sell will cost you 10 minutes each in your 10 hour recruiting budget
and a hard sell will cost you 20. If he gets irritated with you and hangs
up, it can cost you up to 10% of his interest.

Other things you can do to influence recruits is offering a scholarship
(best influence and costs 30 minutes), and offering a visit to your school
(half as much interest as a scholarship and costs an hour). While you won’t
see big immediate return with a visit, when he does visit and if he likes
your school, it will pretty much max out his interest.

Recruits can sign at any time, but you’ll see the most commitment across
the nation after about 4-5 weeks. If the recruit is maxed out and you keep
hitting on the same things over and over, try another pitch you match up
well on but maybe haven’t hit on before. Maybe there’s a Good-Good or a
Good-Very Good that is just enough to push your pitch over the line.

You can recruit up until the end of the regular season, and then recruiting
ends until the close of the Playoff. Then you have one more “week” of
recruiting where you can try to sign players and attempt to sign transfers
before the new season starts and you start the whole thing over again.
